Red frog

I found this huge frog in my garden this summer. I thought the colour was very unusual, perhaps it had changed to this red to blend in with the oak leaves it was sheltering amongst.

girl where do you find these things. if only I had a back yard (garden) like yours ! I tried to get up close to a frog last year ... it jumped right at me.
EJWilkins: I found it among some old plastic flowerpots I'd put to one side to take to the tip! It just sat there, and waited patiently while I went indoors to get the camera!
Hi Ellie smile A very beautiful (almost scary) picture, colors are wonderful !
EJWilkins: I'm glad you think the colours are amazing too. smile

Excellent capture. I keep on expecting it to blink. How did you get it so well lit?
EJWilkins: Thanks for dropping by Martin, I hope to goodness it doesn't blink! It was sunny, I didn't use the flash because I didn't want to disturb it too much.

Yuck!!!! (getverdemme in dutch)Great shot.
Did you feed the frog some chocolate (hagelslag in dutch)?? I can see some on the lips...
EJWilkins: Aww, I'm sure other frogs would think it's gorgeous. wink Nope, didn't feed it anything, not even a worm! Thanks Frank.

May the powers be with you Ellie. Courageous stuff. Incidently a nice picture as well - well taken.
EJWilkins: Courageous, that would be for spiders! *shudder* Thanks Louis. smile

great closeup
EJWilkins: Thanks Chantal smile
Excellent shot Ellie. Did you use a flash on this?
EJWilkins: Hi. No, I didn't use a flash because I didn't want to frighten it, it was a very sunny day. I think I struck lucky. smile

Great shot. Very brave of you to get so close to this one!
EJWilkins: Hi Eileen, I'm lucky not to be too bothered by animals .. spiders when they come indoors are a different matter entirely, but I'm OK with frogs and toads. I'm glad you like the shot. smile
Good close up shot.
EJWilkins: Thanks Daniel smile
very detailed, i like this.
EJWilkins: Thanks Dotun, I'm glad you like my frog.

How incredible that you were able to get this shot, as everyone else has said. I laughed about the spiders because they don't bother me at all but they certainly do my daughter! It's funny how we all have our own phobias!
EJWilkins: Yes, I was very lucky with this shot Ginnie. I'm fine with most creatures, except the huge spiders that come into our houses in the autumn ... odd that, because outdoor spiders don't bother me at all. Mind you, I had to evict a cricket the other day, and felt it crawling round my hand for ages afterwards! smile

you have a wealth of great nature shots ellie, keep up the good work.

did you try kissing the frog? (haha maybe it was he!)
EJWilkins: Thanks Rabby, I'll keep trying, although not all of them are 'good' I hope they're all interesting.
Nope, I didn't try to kiss 'it', I've got my prince smile
Awesome shot!
You got much closer to it than I could ever bring myself to do lol!
EJWilkins: *grin* It was too hot for the frog to do much other than sit there, and I think it was pretty surprised to be disturbed. Glad you like the shot. smile
Great photo, color and composition... anyway, ain't it a toad?
