photoblog image Card Sharp? monochrome

Card Sharp? monochrome

The black and white version of this picture http://www.ellie.shutterchance.com/photoblog/34422.htm  taken in Alcântara this summer.

I've had problems with this link, it doesn't want to work, the other picture is dated 10th November 2006.

I wonder which one you prefer?

P.S.
I hope somebody can help Vyder with his blog problem http://vydercam.shutterchance.com/

Lovely image Ellie, a moment in time captured perfectly. Mal
EJWilkins: Thanks Mal smile
i love black and white emotions that come from your pictures.
EJWilkins: Thanks you Nadine. Merci de prendre du temps de commenter mon image. Je pense que la scène est presque intemporelle. Les hommes se seront réunis ici pour jouer aux cartes pendant beaucoup d'années. (via Babelfish)

lovely shot,
the B&w really adds to the shot....!
EJWilkins: Thanks Shiv, I think the two pictures have completely different 'feel' to them.

not sure which one i prefer ellie. i only just noticed louis talking about my rump in the other shot. Don't know why but i feel victimised all of a sudden. I am tempted to say they got a hold of louis' white lily smile
EJWilkins: I'm not sure either Nev ... I think Louis was referring to your picture of rump steak rather than your derriere wink

well spotted - I like the b & w treatment
EJWilkins: Thanks Paul, I think it was a worthwhile experiment. smile
B&W are great to capture moments. And your snaps proves it. Well done.
EJWilkins: Thanks Sarthak, I'm not 'usually' a fan of b/w but I'm getting round to the idea that sometimes they work better, and show a different emotion to colour pictures.
it reminds me of the old Marcel Pagnol pictures... well framed, a nice, nice one, Ellie !
EJWilkins: Hi Florence, I had to look up Marcel Pagnol. I agree, the b/w does seem to make the scene older, from long ago rather than only this summer.

This is great - prefer it to the coloured shot. Your title cleared it up for me, so they are not digging away at nev's rump.
EJWilkins: Nev's going to get a complex about his rump if we're not careful. wink

Decisions, decisions. I like both for different reasons (didn't I see you say that somewhere!). In this case, I think you're quicker drawn to the expression on the man's face. Great transfer to B&W, Ellie.
EJWilkins: Thanks Ginnie, yes, I did say that somewhere and more than once. wink For me I think the b/w makes the image almost timeless (except for the cut-off shorts). I'm sure people have been meeting here or in a similar place for years to play cards. The colour, I think, brings it right up to 'now'.
Nice shot. I like the expressions

Your B&W version gives it an "older" look, but I still prefer the coloured version
