photoblog image Pena Palace, Sintra

Pena Palace, Sintra

Another shot of the Pena Palace at Sintra in Portugal, taken in the summer.

It would probably look prettier with a nice blue sky, but at this point in the day it was hazy so it was white.

like this angle though. like I always say you do have an eye. What are you rich or something to travel so much?
EJWilkins: Thanks for the compliment Johnny.
Travel a lot? No, we don't.
Rich? We aren't, otherwise I'd have a better camera. wink

There is more than enough in this picture to be concerned about an indifferent sky. Composition is great.
EJWilkins: Thanks Ray, it's a fabulous place and I hope the pictures do it justice.

Man! The more pics I see of this place, the more I want to see it with my own eyes. Not that YOUR eyes aren't good enough, mind you. smile

The colors, the windows, the chimneys (?), the tower/pinnacle/spire, the everything! Love it.
EJWilkins: There's a lot more there to see than I photographed, the inside for example, where you can't take pictures.
If you do ever manage to go it's a good idea to remember to arrive either early or late in the day during the tourist season, there can be long queues otherwise.
I like the color contrast. Lovely place. Would like to visit. smile
EJWilkins: I hope you manage to get there one day Sarthak, it's well worth a visit as are other places in the area. smile

Wow!Thats a really Islamic looking structure and its in Portugal!

You have managed to capture the colours, minarets and the general atmosphere very well.

Bravo!
EJWilkins: There's a real mix of styles in this palace, taken from all over europe and, I think, from north africa .. the Moorish influence? I'm sure somebody else will know more than I do.

Mmmmm ... yah .....mmmmhmmmm OK. I like the detail on the little towers that is visble in spite of the backlight. Must be the result of shooting from the shadows.

Remains an interesting place.

Very nice photo.
EJWilkins: Complete lack of experience Louis, I admit it. Had only had the camera for a month or so, but I don't think I'd do much better even now. The sun was just off to the left of this picture, and I still don't fully understand how to compensate for that brightness despite reading all about it.

I agree with Pinto in that you captured the contrasts of this extravagant building. Very nice shot.
EJWilkins: Thanks El Dani, it truly is an extravagant building.
Hi Ellie, what's wrong with good old Buck House or those other Windsor family places?!! Very nice pic indeed, although the varying levels of light through the photo do disconcert me a little and detract from the image. I did spot some blue sky though!! Keep it up. Regards, Neil.
EJWilkins: Didn't have this camera when we visited those places! tongue Next time we visit Pena I hope to take better pictures, I'd only had the camera a month or so when I took these.
Colori deboli.
EJWilkins: grazie
nice yellow, good shot!
EJWilkins: thanks Dotun
