This is much more interesting than a fresh sunflower.
EJWilkins: It is, and it's strange how none of the pictures I took of the whole field had the same impact.

This is an excellent shot.

When i saw the thumbnail i thought you have done some saddlebags hanging on a peg at Beaulieu.
EJWilkins: Glad you like it Louis. Saddlebags? I don't think I've ever seen anybody use them 'for real' except in films.

I had no idea they grew this big! Well spotted and well captured.
EJWilkins: This one was very much a giant compared with the rest in the field, somewhere between seven and eight feet high I'd guess.

This is one of my favorite photos I've seen from you thus far, Ms. Ellie. The white sky actually enhances it. Stunning!
EJWilkins: Oh my goodness, that's nice, thanks Ginnie smile
So sharp and gorgeous!
EJWilkins: thanks Josie, Gracias.

Like the way you catured it, yep a once mighty and beatiful sunflower all withered. The cycle of life?

Suby
EJWilkins: Very profound Suby, but almost the same as my thoughts. Autumn, winter and all that ... soon be spring, thank goodness. smile

Beauty in death Ellie, great image. Mal
EJWilkins: Glad you think so Mal wink
Thee's something pathetic in this shot... dead flower is alaways sad but this is a nice picture Ellie...
EJWilkins: It is sad, but there are seeds there for the next generation of sunflowers smile

So expressive. I like the cropping. The fact that the sunflower wouldn't be included in the frame, if it wasn't bent produces a really interesting effect.

It looks defeated to me. Like after so much sun-following, his neck has finally given up...
EJWilkins: Yes, very much defeated after a summer following the sunshine
There's a quiet dignity in the death of a flower smile
Lovely shot, Ellie.
EJWilkins: Thanks Sugarsnaps smile
