oh Ellie. Look at the wee fuzz and tender hairs! If I was a bee or fly I would be bee-witched enough to enter. So glistening. ~S.
EJWilkins: I know, those little hairs fascinated me too as well as the tiny drops of liquid, it might be nectar.

I agree with Rhoda. To me it looks like a carnivore plant; a whale-like species ready to devour me... or may be just a fly.
EJWilkins: haha, yes, a carnivorous plant, thank goodness these are only small and can't eat people! When I was small we used to pull off the flowers and wear them on our fingers wink
nice close up of this hollyhock.

I like to use the mosaic on VFXY, too. I followed your link from your comment, thanks.
EJWilkins: Hi Maggie, and thankyou so much for dropping by. I've been on some wonderful picture trails from vfxy smile

The detail youve capture in the image Ellie is top drawer and these colours are natural and beautiful. Mal
EJWilkins: Thanks Mal, it's really kind of you to say so.

scary flower! What an unusual angle. I'll have to look inside more flowers
EJWilkins: Thanks Paul, I'm sure that if you were to try this you'd be able to get right inside the flower and see what's at the far end wink It's only an inch or so away
great macroshot!
EJWilkins: Thanyou so much Joanne smile
Wow, nice macro, this looks wild. smile
EJWilkins: Gosh, thanks Sarthak ... I suppose the flower was 'wild' it was growing in a hedgerow in the Forest. wink

This flower looks hungry and mean - do you still have your camera (you have gotten too close). smile

I think a touch of saturation (or contrasting) would get rid of the xtra light on the lower lip. A nice close-up, love it.

You says it is foxglove and maggie believes it is a hollyhock. Which one of you are right.
EJWilkins: Thanks Louis, and yes, I still have the camera grin It's a foxglove, hollyhocks have round flowers, no matter though, they're both pretty and tall. This one was on a plant that was about 5ft tall.
oh my God, too good Ellie, too good.
EJWilkins: Oh cripes Dotun, you'll have me blushing using words like that! grin
Beautiful shot
EJWilkins: Thanks Magnus smile

Very nice detail and an interesting perspective! I can see how this would make a bee hungry.
EJWilkins: Thanks Martin, I suppose each flower's evolved its' own way of attracting bees, this one seems almost as complicated as an orchid.

Hey it looks like it's hungry and will eat anything that lands on it, actually quite scary,

From the so imaginative muind of the Subster smile
EJWilkins: Not just your imagination Suby, I thought just the same. smile

It's funny, Ellie, but after seeing your title and then the flower, I immediately thought of all those pointy wires that are put on posts and ledges to keep birds from landing. BINGO! Nature must have taught us that! Unbelievable clarity in this pic!
EJWilkins: Thanks Ginnie, that's really kind. I don't think man can think up much, nature's got there before us, and does it better too .. all we've got to do is look, and learn.
I'm hoping either Chris (Eclectic) or Paul (Tadpole) will take the bait next summer and get an even clearer, more detailed picture with their superior lenses. (I doubt they'll read this reply because they've already paid the picture a visit ... so it's safe to say it!)
Feed me, feed me now! Well taken Ellie smile
EJWilkins: grin All right Seymour, calm down ... thanks Chris
lol, i like that - bee's eye view...nice one here, very different and interesting...
EJWilkins: Glad you like it Sam smile
I'll have to give my digitalis a closer look in the Spring. This is beautiful Ellie!
EJWilkins: You'll see all sorts of amazing things when you get in close, especially if you take pictures because they show more than the eye can see. I look forward to seeing your pictures next Spring smile
Very nice picture Ellie... what a mouth.. Was she hungry ?
