photoblog image Freedom!

Freedom!

The same 'Pannage Pigs' off on their travels to cause more mayhem in and around Brockenhurst. This is the last of this group of pictures, I hope you've enjoyed them.

These pigs were released onto the New Forest to help deal with this year's bumper crop of acorns. Pigs enjoy acorns which are poisonous to the ponies. There is a limited 'Pannage Season' which is set by the New Forest Verderers each autumn.
( Forest Officers )

"Commoners" of the New Forest are those people whose homes or land have Forest Rights attached to them, the rights alone cannot be bought or traded. All animals that roam 'free' on the Forest are owned by somebody, and are properly cared for.

You really were in the right place at the right time with this hysterically wonderful series of pigs, Ellie. You did them proud! smile
Wow, here we have to wait for trains; pigs would be great for a change! I agree with Ginnie: right place at the right time.

That is why i associated these orwell wonders with bacon - because you keep on calling them pan-nage pigs smile

This is a great right of way picture. The lighting in this picture can be corrected by contrasting - I think. Haziness and the road.

I have always associated the commoners with being common - you know like in average (or middle class if you want)- but now i understand they are owners bordering on the commons. While common people are the Joe Averages so to speak. ?? Now you know i am not british!
Freedom !!!!!

Nice picture Ellie
Yes freedom ! Great !! They're having Christmas time altogether ! Mind the wolf ! smile Have a great day Ellie !
Great finishing to the great pig series. smile
well no pork chops tonight Ellie!! A really great capture, beautifully composed and telling it's own story. The glare on the road and car is a bit of a problem, but as Louis says, I'm sure it can be corrected(just don't ask me how, I haven't a clue!) Great work as usual. Kindest regards, Neil.
I like the moment you've captured. I have enjoyed this series. thanks for sharing.

"Freedom"? I'm thinking "Bacon"! (Crouches behind soldid object.)

Now this is a scene I've seen played out almost every time I poodle around the New Forest, which as I live about 10 minutes away is quite often, but it's not always pigs. I've never thought to take a picture though.

This one sums it up very nicely and is exactly how it looks on a day like this.
Sausages! grin Fine shot Ellie, it documents life in the forest well smile
Nice shot Ellie. I love the place you left to the green.
