photoblog image Monastery of Jerónimos, Belém

Monastery of Jerónimos, Belém

This is a stairway at the Monastery of Jerónimos at Belem, Portugal.

Even just looking at the picture takes me back there, and to my thoughts at the time of the feet that have worn these stairs.

I may not be online much between now and the New Year, we have visitors. I'll drop by when I can.

Best Wishes for a peaceful and happy Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Hey Ellie.

It's the time for reflection, and you're not wrong to get all deep and thoughtful on us.
I wish you and your family all the very best for xmas and the new year.

See you on the flipside girl!
EJWilkins: Thanks, I wonder what the picture made you think?

These stairs had me standing there looking at them for about five minutes, which when you're walking round a large place is quite some time. Most people used them as intended, so it wasn't too difficult to get a people-free picture.
I wish you and your family a merry Christmas and an happy new year full of nice pictures !
EJWilkins: Thank you so much Zeb, I wish the same for you and your family. smile
Today seems to be a bit of a lottery when it comes to seeing what everyone is posting, the site is all over the place, so I am visiting the people I know by name!! This is a lovely photo to evoke memories of good times gone past Ellie, great low light shot. Very well composed and cropped. Have a blessed and joyous time over Christmas. Many kind regards, Neil.
EJWilkins: Very many thanks Neil, I've been searching too while 'they' are watching something on the television wink
This picture, I'm glad you like it. It's one I wasn't too sure about because it's so empty and because of the thoughts ... you know?
Have a wonderful Christmas.

... Are you really going to visit the New Forest then? That'll be nice, we'll have to see if anybody else would like to meet up, I know there are several other "Shutterchancers" within easyish distance ... waddya think?

I have really liked your Sunday series, Ellie, and this may be my favorite pic thus far. I can feel the ethos of this place and the slightest of Gregorian chanting in the background. Another very peaceful and calming shot. I, too, like the lighting and the perspective. Many feet, yes!
EJWilkins: Hmm, you felt it too. I have hesitated to upload this picture again and again just in case it wasn't thought to be any good ... you know? But I kept coming back to it, so here it is. If you ever go to Portugal, please visit the monastery. I didn't use flash and I hadn't got a tripod, only took the one picture and I think it came out quite well.
