photoblog image Boldre Church

Boldre Church

Millennium Window

I've chosen this picture of  the Millennium Window at Boldre Parish Church, in the New Forest, for today because it shows how people can work together to make something beautiful and long-lasting.

The window was designed by Tracey Sheppard and funded by local subscription and fundraising efforts.

Boldre is pronounced 'boulder'.

The church stands on a small hill just outside the village, beneath the + on this aerial view

I flipped the image because the words are engraved to be read from inside the church.

I hope the New Year brings you and your loved ones long-lasting success in whatever you strive for,  good health, personal happiness and a bright future.

Happy New Year to you and yours, Ellie.

Beautiful image. Thank you.
EJWilkins: Thank you Josie, I'm really pleased you like this image. I don't think it does the window justice, and I had to flip it to show the words which are to be seen from inside the little church.
Best wishes for 2007.

A very peaceful photo.
Blessings to you and your loved ones for the New Year.
EJWilkins: Many thanks Madretz. I welcome your visit and appreciate your words.
Best wishes for 2007.
Beautiful piece of artwork well photographed as usual Ellie. Nicely composed and framed. Have a wonderful year in 2007. Warmest wishes and kindest regards, Neil.
EJWilkins: Thank you Neil. I took this picture some time ago and waited and waited until what seemed the right moment to share it, although it doesn't really do the window justice. I also had to flip it to show the words.
Best wishes for 2007.
I like the different shapes (glas, bricks, roof) and the different texture. It also makes me think about what you wrote about making something beautiful that lasts - thinking about your pictures, my own pictures and the whole shutterchance....
It looks like a place i would love to take my macro-lense :o)
EJWilkins: Thank you Aksel, I think you would have a truly wonderful time with your camera if you were ever able to visit this area, there is so much to see, both natural and man made.
I'm glad you understood my hint, about beauty and people working together.
Best wishes for 2007.

EJWilkins: It's a lovely mediaeval church Mia, that has been well cared for over hundred of years. I'm really pleased you like this picture.

Really cool idea about flipping the image.
Hope you had a grand New Year celebration.
EJWilkins: smile I cropped it and then realised the words couldn't be read, so tried flipping it. I was really surprised that it seemed to work alright. Thanks Deji, and all the best for 2007.

Flipping this pic was genious of you, Ellie! I am especially partial to the etching look of this and the deer/hart in it. "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God." (Psalm 42:1) What a great start for 2007!
My better desires for you and yours in this year. And the best photographies also!
