photoblog image Yellow Buddleia

Yellow Buddleia

This is a Buddleia from our garden, taken during last summer. Unfortunately the plant is no longer with us, it succumbed to the drought.

My friend Chris (Eclectic) has an amazing picture of a butterfly perched on one of these flowers, it's - right here -

The Buddleia is named after the botanist - Reverend Adam Buddle - (1660-1715) Born in Lincolnshire, he was vicar of Farmbridge in Essex.

It's a beautiful flower, Ellie, and the small flowers look somewhat similar to the lantana I grew this summer. Nice shot!

Yes, Ellie. I agree with Sugarsnaps that this reminds me of our lantana flower. Very, very nice shot!
Shame it succumbed, because they're really great for butterflies. I wish we had some in our garden.

Drought in the UK? Amazing, but i guess it can happen.

Excellent picture.

The combination of botanist/vicar is interesting. Rather different worlds to operate in. He must have been the originator of flowering sermons then.

Looks like B.Weyeriana Ellie, I'll take some cuttings and get them to you smile I'm suprised the drought got it, they'll grow in the harshest of conditions!

Well captured smile
