photoblog image Rose pink

Rose pink

Taken last summer in Southampton, I really liked the range of colours in this flower from the almost pure white to a lovely deep pink.

It looks almost as if the petals turn pink when they are exposed to sunlight because the white on each petal seems to follow the shape of the petal above.

EJWilkins: Thank you Mia, I'm really pleased you like it smile
A very nice macro for a fantastic flower... a lovely pink one !!
EJWilkins: Thanks Florence, I wish we were able to keep some of the scent of flowers too, it was glorious.
This close-up takes my breath away, Ellie. Everything about it is fantastic!
EJWilkins: Thanks Ginnie, a lovely comment. ... You can breathe again now wink
beautiful colours!reminds me how beautiful small details aresmile btw, d top part on the right is lil bit disturbing to me..mabe it will luk better without it?smile
EJWilkins: Hi Abdul. smile You're the only person to mention the little triangles of green at the top corners, and yes they are slightly distracting. I wasn't entirely sure what to do because if I cropped in any further the picture was spoiled, so I left them as they are and kept the almost square image.
Thanks for your comment, it is very welcome.

wow..brilliant shot...ur right the colors are clear and vibrant..
perfect shot!
EJWilkins: Thanks Vidur, I'm pleased you think the same as me smile
A very beautiful macro. I agree with you about the sunlight appearing to color the petals; what an interesting effect!
EJWilkins: Hi Samira, it's a very strange effect. I only noticed it when I was looking at the pictures when I got home. It seems to be the same on most roses where the petals have more than one colour, it's really interesting smile

Great range of natural colours and contrast. Nothing is blown out or overly shadowy smile it's a nice subject and photo!
EJWilkins: This is one I was really pleased with, especially as it was taken on a very sunny say so the white could have been dreadful. I think it says a lot for the quality of the camera. wink
Gorgeous, Ellie!
EJWilkins: Thank you smile
You've caught a great tonal variety here. I have to say flower shots don't usually grab me, but this is a good 'un! smile
EJWilkins: Thanks Dave, that's kind of you to say so. It's a picture I was really pleased with when I took it, the colours were 'just right', which is quite rare I think. So pleased you like it. smile
