At the pony sales ~ People #5

Taken at the Beaulieu Road Pony Sales in October 2006, along with the other pictures I took that day.

I particularly liked this one when I first saw it on the screen, even though the focus is a bit out. The man seemed to be looking far into the distance, almost distracted, not thinking of what was happening around him.

For Ginnie .. another hat.

love the Pony series, I miss them
I don't think there are any issues with focus, Ellie. I love his expression and the cropping you chose. Lovely.

This photo reminds me of my grandpa. This guy probably has some nice stories to tell. I don't see any issues with focus, either.

OMG, Ellie. Yes, another hat (LOL). But what a capture of a man with character and history (which you can tell by the wrinkles, of course!). This is brilliant for all the reasons already stated. Great DOF and, as others have said, I see NO issues with focus whatsoever.

One of the first things I noticed was the redish eyebrows. A man after my own heart. smile I bet his grandkids would die for this pic. Any way to find him again?!? (sigh)
EJWilkins: I've been trying to track him down Ginnie, no success so far. I like to think he'd be pleased with the picture. I noticed the sandy eyebrows too. smile
Another vote for no issues with focus smile Infact I find the details and the expression perfect - great timing.
I think the focus is just fine Ellie, great shot
nice portrait, love the lines in the face, they show life.

Nice character pic - for some reason i imagine him to be a trainer - been hanging over the rails ever since. and it has the sharp focus and detail that i believe a character pic should have - great stuff
Out of focus ? Must be my old eyes but this looks perfect. He reminds me of all the olds guys that you run into from time to time who have seen it all and knows it all but they are nice with it. This is one of your better character shots El I really like this one. wink J

I like this portrait. One could make up any number of stories to go with it. That is essential for an interesting portrait.

Hopefully yesterday's storm didn't cause too much trouble where you are. According to CNN it was a good one.
Hi Ellie. Very nice portrait. Nothing to dto to get it better ! Fine

"Ahh, the stories I could tell you", that is what he is thinking El, Lovely capture of character. Mal
What an nice portrait, it makes you wonder about the interesting character. Nice job, actually I like the focus on this one the blur background, don’t be so hard on yourself and use photoshop unsharp mask if you need it, it makes the images sharper, amazing!

Wow. I think that you need a special gift to make good portraits, and now I see you've got it!! So expressive! Really like it.
