Football scarves

Saturday is a traditional "Football Day" for many people. You can imagine our surprise when, while we were looking for places where we could have a meal in the town of Cascais (to the west of Lisbon), we spotted these football scarves displayed on the wall in a small restaurant.

I took this picture through the doorway.

I thought of cropping out the person's head, but it spoiled the picture which has only been cropped and resized to upload.

I first saw such scarves in Hannover, Ellie, as soccer season came, and marvelled most of all about how they're draped around necks during HOT weather. I'd be boiling up. But football fever is definitely there all over the world, regardless of what it's called or how it's rooted for.

I actually love seeing team spirit like this in sports bars and restaurants, even here in the States. Rivalries can be so exciting and colorful, as you have captured so well here. smile
Even an England scarf, eh? Don't worry about the head: I didn't even notice it until I read your comment. The watermark on top of it helps too!
Oh my God! A Bayern scarf! :B Nice shot!

Colourful indeed and the order of scarves is very correct : the very best, Man Utd, is right at the top !!!

a slight crop was needed though.

This all reminds me of the time i was in a liitle town near Heidelberg in Gemany - sitting down for a dinner at a local. Quickly it was clear that the 20 or so customers were rooting for the blue team. So what the heck, since i am not a local - my vocal support went to red. Amazing thing is that red won and after the game everyone wanted to buy me a drink! Real friendly people and great sportsmanship.

Don't worry about the head. Worry about the poor horse you covered up with the portuguese flag. Ai.

Colourful 'local' pic
Nice shot.
You can find scarfs like this in a lot of pubs in Norway as well. English football is big business all around the world I guess. I can't find a scarf from my team - Leeds ....
