Ellie, I like the resistance between the white of the flowers and the green and dark bottom. The detail of the bee heightens the shot.

Good one. The bee adds a nice touch.
Very crisp. I can feel the warmth of the sunlight by looking at this pic. I wonder how it would would look with a little less brightness - probably the edges of the petals would be more visible smile
EJWilkins: I know what you mean Thomas, and I did try .. but some of the petals are curved over on themselves rather than having a visible 'edge'. You're also right that it was a very hot, bright sunny day. smile
Very summery and nice! Is the weather still bad over there?
EJWilkins: The weather is still variable, but mostly overcast and gloomy, Too dark really to get out there with a camera. The days are getting longer though, which is a blessing smile

The DOF is just perfect here, Ellie. At first I thought there were several bees, but I guess it's just the one. I understand what Thomas is saying about darkening the petals a bit more, but still, they're very lovely. White that's not snow!

Speaking of snow, Uschi told me it snowed here in Hannover one day last week when we were gone! Boo Hoo. I wish I had been here to see it!
EJWilkins: It was a huge plant Ginnie, and at the 'wrong' time of year would have looked like a snow drift, with little tiny specks of pink .. the buds. It was amazing to see. Real snow? Not a sign of it here, I don't think we'll get any now .. hope not.
beautiful framing, and crop.

I especially like the white petals...they have the look of delicate porcelain; the shadowing on them gives a particularly 3D feel to the image.
EJWilkins: Ray, this was just part of a huge and rambling rose, close to one of the cemetery walls. It was absolutely covered in gorgeous white blossoms, with very pale pink buds. It was magical to see, it glowed in the bright sunshine. smile
Hi Ellie, how r u doing?
This is a beautiful and bright shot. smile
Hmm... I can nearly smell them...Lovelysmile
Nice DOF Ellie. I like to see the white I see out my window everyday (it's snowing again) transformed into something so different and lively!
Nice - looks like you have got the exposure spot on. Here it's snow and rain - your pic brings back good memories of summer smile

Ah summer - soon! Not sure about the space at the top of this frame Ellie - the flower and bee are spot on smile
EJWilkins: Difficult decision Chris ... to see the whole bunch of flowers or concentrate on the bee. I know your style though, not quite able to imitate it yet wink

What a blast of English Summer you have given us today. What a tonic! I can almost smell roses!

Great pic with great detail - nice pic of the bee, i wonder why you titled it rose white? In good better best, this is a best. The petal shadows do a lot to enhance the whites and form an alternative contrast with the greens.
EJWilkins: Rose White? Don't know really Louis, probably because I've had a 'Rose Pink', I might have a residual memory of the Fairy Tale. I'm pleased you like this, I was quite pleased with it, as usual taken in bright sunshine smile

Great shot ellie. Those little things are so elusive at times. It was only recently that i was able to capture a slow moving bee with asthma having a feed on a plant after a night on the nectar. Not like some of our resident macro experts.
EJWilkins: I was really lucky to get the bee in the shot, the sun had warmed it up and it was whizzing around. I lined this up, it landed and ... the result is what you see smile But, it wouldn't stand enlarging.
Sweet - A piece of summer in these cold days smile
EJWilkins: Not long now smile
