I am torn about the branches. I want to feel like you included them to give the viewer that "out of the forest" feeling. The more I look at the photo, the more I think I like them there. It breaks up the photo and gives the viewer something else of peripheral visual interest.
EJWilkins: It was an easy decision Clint. I thought it looked far better with the branches than without, because that's how we saw the lighthouse ourselves. It made it look more real and gave some sense of size.
There was also a slight breeze, and nature being what it is, it was very difficult not to have leaves acting as a frame. wink
Very nice place here and good composition too even if I wonder how it would be without tree branches. Though a great one !!
A simple yet beautiful picture. I somehow feel the leaves add to the overall charm of the picture. The leaves lend a natural touch to the concrete background.
I like the leaf of the trees they frame it nicely

You and I are similar, Ellie, in liking the foreground framing. If the top righthand branch were a wee bit to the right of the lighthouse, it'd be perfect for me. As it is, it's lovely anyway, so strike that. HA.

Did I ever tell you that I have a thing for lighthouses! smile
EJWilkins: (24 Feb)
I'll have to dig out some more lighthouse pictures for both you and Johnny.

Yes, the branch would have been better slightly to the right, but I wasn't about to argue with a breeze. The only other picture I took at the time was slightly worse! Will have to go back (again) to see if they've finished whatever work it was that they were doing.
Like your picture. Nice framing.
I need holiday! Beautiful framing. smile
EJWilkins: I hope you get your holiday soon .. ours was lovely, we got home last night (23/24 Feb) smile
Lovely soft light and nicely framed image- the greens of the foreground leaves are crucial, aren't they?!

A great picture of the boat.
Hummm... the green leaves before the nice blues... Well composed ! Very nice shot Ellie.
Looks like everyone else covered the leaves so how's this ....... that's the first time I've seen a square lighthouse ! Like Ginnie I have a thing for lighthouses so this is new to me, thanks for that you. smile
EJWilkins: Glad you like lighthouses Johnny, I've got a few more in the archives wink I've seen square ones, round ones, and hexagonal ones in Portugal ...

Es una lástima que el entorno de la imagen no hagan de ésta, una fotografía estupenda. Los andamios, los resto de obras, no dan abrigo a este formidable y curioso faro.

It is a pity that the surroundings of the image does not do of this one, a wonderful photography. The scaffolds, them rest of works, do not give shelter this to formidable and peculiar light.

The leaves over the lighthouse makes me have this interpretation: after a quite long walk in the wood, I gently pull some branches apart and here it is... I am arrived.
I know it probably wasn't like this, but it's a game I love, to look at a picture, and try to guess a story behind it.
I love the lighthouse colors, to be so similar to the sea and sky. I love lighthouses too, I am currently in New England, and I wasn't able to get a single lighthouse picture so far! sad
