photoblog image St Nicholas Church, Brockenhurst

St Nicholas Church, Brockenhurst

Trying to keep to my 'bird theme', this is the weather cock at the top of the spire of St Nicholas Church, Brockenhurst. The weather vane is made of gold-painted metal of some sort.

I think the spire is interesting. It may have a wooden frame, which could account for the slight anti-clockwise twist which straightens out just below the top of the spire.

I showed a picture of the church, taken in the rain, last Sunday. It's - here - along with some details of the church.

I was lucky this time and managed to not only get some blue sky but also a few soft clouds that were in the right  place behind the weather vane.

Beautiful! I'm sure Ginnie will love it!wink
EJWilkins: Do you think so? I hope she sees it smile
I like this theme thing, and this is a creative shot when it comes to a "bird theme" smile
EJWilkins: Thanks Aksel, I thought long and hard about finding something that would fit in with both Sunday and Birds, then I remembered the weathervane smile
An interesting image. I think the soft clouds are the perfect complement to the angularity of the spire.
EJWilkins: Thanks, I thought the clouds looked quite nice too. I was so lucky there were only a few in the sky, rather than the totally overcast skies we've had for weeks and weeks.
Well Ellie, this bird is not mooving a lot smile smile smile
Nice picture.

Wish you a wonderful week !!
EJWilkins: smile Actually, you wouldn't believe how many times the wind moved the weather vane while I was trying to take the picture, it had me scurrying from one side of the churchyard to the other.
I hope you have a good week too smile
Hi Ellie, you found some sunshine to take a picture then! smile The cockerel looks good against those clouds.
EJWilkins: I did, I managed to get this one on Friday smile I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.
Hi Ellie. Nicely framed.
EJWilkins: Thanks Roland smile
Very nice capture. Love the blue sky!
EJWilkins: Thanks Karen, it's such a delight to have blue skies after such a long time of nothing but grey and gloom.
Muy buena fotografía, me gusta el contraste del cielo y el gallo allá arriba.

Saludos

Nice wind vane, but it is the wonderful brick work of the spire that really has my attention.
Clever of you, too, to include this in your bird series.

If anyone was going to see this, it was Ginnie. (HA! to Julia.) And it's still Sunday for me, so I've even seen it on the "right" day.

You are so very clever indeed, Ellie, to have found the Sunday connection to your bird series. You are to be commended!! smile I love it. And yes, of course, you've hit one of my soft spots with the weather vane. And interestingly, the rooster/cock is Donica's mom's animal, so every time we see one, we're reminded of her.

I'm absolutely delighted you had some sun for a change! Happy new week. (And I see your anti-spam is on again!)
