looks like the dog is saying, faster, faster I gotta take a leak and there's no tree at here ! smile
EJWilkins: wink If only they could talk, eh?
Very cute, Ellie! wink
EJWilkins: Thanks Kay smile

I've been staring at this, Ellie, and must be amused at myself because I can't figure out why the "one man" is standing at the front of the boat. Maybe I have gondolas on my mind.

I agree with Hick--the blues are very cool!
EJWilkins: I don't know why they use only one oar either, I've seen it several times ... with people who clearly move themselves from boat to shore regularly. Maybe it's easier? I wonder if the weight at the front of the boat makes it go a bit quicker through the water?
The same in this pic, also from last year

What a great picture, Ellie...love those shades of blue and the sparkling water. I even like the cigarette hanging from the old man's mouth :0 and I hate smoking...it adds another element of interest.
The dog looks very comfortable in that boat...I bet it's not his first time on the water ;~wink
EJWilkins: I can't imagine it was the dog's first boat trip, it seems very confident. smile
Dogs love boats smile Wouldn't expect to see him trying to get around with a single paddle. I like the colours in this a lot!
EJWilkins: The single paddle is something the locals seem to do, I think this chap was going to the quay, from a fishing boat that had been moored up. Thanks Iain smile

It is a really pleasant picture, Ellie. You've got a marvellous deep blue water...is this as you shot it, or have you weaved in a bit of PP magic?
As I see it, it is a picture of a dog and its human...the human is doing all the work and the mutt is just on a pleasure cruise. [grin]
EJWilkins: I did a little with contrast, and cropped the picture, otherwise it's 'as is'. It was a nice sunny day so the water was very sparkly. Thanks Ray smile
A man and his co-pilot/navigator. The dog looks so intent.
EJWilkins: As Johhny says, I can almost imagine the conversation ... smile
Jack Russells are the smartest of all - I've got a youngster called Zizou. They are so loyal to one person that they almost become a single entity and that is so palpable here. A lovely study of relationships.
EJWilkins: I don't know a lot about different dogs Jose, we have a cat, but I have plenty of friends who have dogs. Those with Jack Russells seem to have a true friend for life, just as you say. It does seem like that with this man and his dog. Thanks smile
They do! Really well seen and captured. smile
EJWilkins: Thanks smile
Excellent. So many details to catch the eye. The water is beautiful, too.
EJWilkins: Thanks, there were a lot more boats in the background. If I'm honest, I think I could look at this little picture for ages. smile
I dont seem to get good vivid colours like you are getting. I suspect it has to do with the type of camera i am using. Its not digital SLR. Did you work on it? please advice.
EJWilkins: Hi, This picture wasn't taken with a digital slr, it was a Dimage Z5.
I don't know so much about scanning pictures from film, but there are plenty of people here who do it quite often.
Steve http://steve.shutterchance.com/ and
Artographer http://artographer.shutterchance.com/ for example.
They might be able to help you with transfers from film or slides.
I altered the contrast a little, and also cropped this picture, using a free programme called Photofiltre. smile

hehe, like they say, "Its a dog's life" tongue Lovely sharpness of the image
EJWilkins: It seems quite a good life too wink
They sure look like they are enjoying their outing!
EJWilkins: Looks to me as if it's a regular trip too, probably from a fishing boat to the quay, the dog seems very happy.
In the south of France this kind of boat is called "noyé le chien" which I can translate as "Dog in the water" - This is no far here.
EJWilkins: Are you telling me the truth? wink

That dog is making sure about the guy's poling technique. Or maybe it bites the left cheek to go port and the right for star. smile
