Very nice, textural image, Ellie- I see you had to keep steady with the slow speed here! Lovely light, and nicely framed too.
EJWilkins: Thanks David. It was one of the photographs from the Monastery that I was quite pleased with, although the front looks a bit overbright .. it's how it was to see 'for real'.
Hello, your photography is very interesting.

Greetings

Ismael smile
EJWilkins: Thank you Ishmael, it is kind of you to say so smile

Oh Ellie. This is so perfect for Easter with that shaft of light! It almost reminds me of a tomb. This is spectacular.

A peaceful and happy Easter to you and yours as well.
EJWilkins: Thanks Ginnie, a special magic of the Monastery. The window was, I think, incredibly well positioned to do exactly what it was meant to do. We were so lucky that the light was coming from the right direction, although it wasn't particularly sunny.
I hope all's gone well for you today and you're settled into your new apartment
Really like the light in this shot. Hope you have a very happy Easter.
EJWilkins: Thank you Bernie. The Monastery is one of Portugal's hidden treasures, it is a truly magical and wondrous place, so peaceful and beautiful hidden away beneath the trees.

mysteriuos shot
EJWilkins: Yes, and luck played a huge part too. Another time of day and the light may have been different

Superb image, Ellie. The shaft of light from the small, high window is an inspired artefact, and the door and steps below the window adds heaps of intrigue.
EJWilkins: Thanks Ray. The doors are all covered with cork, from trees growing within the monastery grounds. The window, as you say, was an inspired design.

The "Capuchin Monastery" is just amazing and Sintra is one of the most beautiful places I know...your shot maneged to capture some of the magic in it.
EJWilkins: Thank you very much for taking the time to leave a comment. The Monastery is one of the most peaceful and, as you say, magical places we have visited in Portugal. I think I was very lucky with this picture, another time of day and the ray of light might not have shown.
Your country has a rich heritage, we are lucky to be able visit often to explore its wonders. smile

Looks very peaceful Ellie.
EJWilkins: Absolutely right, it was. Thanks Chris smile
A beautiful picture Ellie. So peaceful. Wishing you a Happy Easter!
EJWilkins: Thanks smile
This does an excellent job of looking old! I especially like that light ray from the small window on the left.
EJWilkins: The light ray was part luck and part good design ... and the place is quite old too. This altar was open to the elements at the front, the back in quite deep shadow.
Happy Easter, Ellie!
Great textures & that ray of light is magical smile
EJWilkins: Thanks Dave. I hope at least one Easter Bunny escaped .. for next year wink
The light? Luck, the design of the window, and luck again.
Oh oH OH Ellie. What a find. Well caught. And that ray of light. Every thing in this picture appears very well balanced. And its in mood with the season
EJWilkins: Thank you smile

A fitting picture for the day. Peaceful easter for you and your family.
EJWilkins: Thanks Louis, I hope your Easter is as good as ours. smile
I like the texture that you have obtained here with the walls and the altar, also the tonalities of ochers are very showy

Hi Ellie, I got here via your other website, (v good by the way). Do you think this is where the Victorians got the idea for their shell grottos?
Great shot.
