photoblog image Bell blue

Bell blue

Bluebell flower, cropped and resized. I was amazed by the range of colour the camera picked up, and quite pleased at how 'true' it is.

In spite of not finding the approach absolutely guessed rightÂ… as you say the result it has been very pleasant and pretty! smile
hey ellie,

wow, a stunning macro. it is amazing how the details of life are visible through a macro shot.
Ah you , you really are getting there, open it up a little to maybe f/9.0or more and your there. Wonderful shot El of a stymen of a Blue Bell. ( Learned that from you )
It's a difficult colour to get "true". (I know.) I love flower shots, and this is no exception.

Great macro. Nice details.
I am amazed that you got a 1/640s exposure time at ISO100. No wonder it looks so crisp. It didn't have time to move!
wow! la couleur de la fleur est merveilleuse

THAT, my friend, is what I call Periwinkle at it's best. Periwinkle, the color, that is. You don't often see it this clearly. Well done, Ellie.

Well you certainly got in close to good effect for this one. I know you know far more about these things than I, but are you sure it's a bluebell? I've just checked out some shots I took last year, and the stamen (if that's the right term) are yellowy-white in mine whereas in yours are purply.
EJWilkins: Yes, it really is a bluebell, one of a large clump that grow in our garden. I wonder if the stamens change colour as the flower ages?

You must just love experimenting with this camera. I think that your great love will by now have noticed that you need a macro lens. If he hasn't noticed yet, show him this comment. Mr. Ellie, she will be able to produce magic with a macro lens, as you can see she is doing great without it. The potential is there and you can unlock it.

It has not been my experience that this is a difficult colour to capture. More like with red, white and yellow. Anyhow different countries and cameras - different experiences. My camera can switch to Adobe RGB that has more colours in the spectrum - it deals better with variations in a colour. If yours has something similar, try it.
I agree with Louis - You definitly have to get a macro lens, with you talent it would be the top on your blog !
Beautiful! lovely color and awesome macro work!
