Moorish Castle, Sintra

Looking up from the town of Sintra to the Moorish Castle perched on top of the hill.

I've been promising Zeb to upload some pictures of the castle since last year. We visited Sintra last summer, it's an amazing place. I'll dig out some information to go with the next pictures.
...

Thanks for all your recent comments, I do appreciate them.
I'm not around much at the moment. It's exam time and I'm being a taxi driver for our eldest and it, and the waiting, is taking a lot of each day.
The last exam we are taking is on 28th June.

I'd love to have something like this castle in my backyard like the people in the foreground do. Looking forward to more information on the castle.

Aaaww poor Ellie the Taxi Driver, hope this is appreciated, hope this is not earthquake territory, that castle looks like it was built on a steep hill grin

Suby
EJWilkins: It is appreciated Suby, don't worry wink Sure is a steep hill, the next picture gives an idea of how steep and how tall. Thanks for dropping by smile

nice depth. I like.
EJWilkins: Thanks Dotun, glad you think so smile
That's quite a back yard.
EJWilkins: You're not kidding wink
It must be something to have a castle as an overlook. I love that the chimney of the house echoes the tower of the castle.
EJWilkins: Good you noticed that, I tried to line them up when I took the picture. Quite something to see every day though, isn't it smile
Ellie. This is lovely. A pink house. Pink and peach are my favourite colours so youve got me fixed on the house.
EJWilkins: Well, all you have to do now is go there to see it for yourself ... I can promise you it's worth a visit. smile
Wow, amazing, i can't imagine how the castle built in this hill, maybe it's very hard worked smile
Lovely Angel Ellie. Regards
EJWilkins: I expect it took a lot of people a lot of time to shape the rocks to build the walls ... it is rather amazing isn't it?

Great shot, Ellie! I like the perspective, the angles, the colors and textures. Nicely composed. smile
EJWilkins: Thanks Kay. smile I thought everything worked together quite nicely even thought it's probably a touch too bright.

EJWilkins: Thanks Helen smile
This is cool Ellie.
EJWilkins: Glad you think so Shakara smile
It seems to be a nice place, I love castles.
EJWilkins: Sintra itself is a jewel of a place, made even nicer by the wonderful palaces, the monastery and this castle.

The moor built his castle on a rock. The house pointing like an arrow head to the castle. Like it.
EJWilkins: That sounds really profound Louis, but I can see what you mean and I like what you've said .. thanks smile

I love the "stone-washed" colors of these foreground buildings, Ellie, as well as the chimney, the flowers on the bushes, the windows, AND the castle. smile. You get the feel of this town below the castle!

Nice contrast between the old and the new. Well seen.
EJWilkins: Thanks Les. I was still experimenting with that camera, but this picture I tried to 'get right' and I think I managed it.
Hi Ellie - lovely composition, all those contrasting stones and brickwork.(:o)
EJWilkins: Thanks Ros, it did look nice for real too smile
Looks like a filmset to me
EJWilkins: Now you mention it, it does.
Hi Ellie, wonder where u were standing when u took this - hehe , anyways I'm trying to put together an SC meet in London -, Suby has given us permission to use his place - he lives in Milton Keynes smile, wuld love for you to be theresmile
EJWilkins: Hi Ade, it would be lovely but honestly it's too far for me. I'll email though, not going 'personal' on a public page wink
