Reflecting on ...

I suddenly realised that this would be picture number 300, and hadn't a clue what image I should use for what seems to be a milestone in blogging.

I've chosen this one because, although I know it isn't bright and cheerful, I like the picture and it was fun to take - which is what this whole photography thing is all about.

I wonder if anybody can work out what this picture is, and how it was taken?

** Edit **
It is a picture of a garden rake, some carden canes and a few pieces of wood, were propped against a fence. They are reflected in the perfectly still water of a full water butt.
The picture has been rotated by 180 degrees.

LOL! what is this? I've been trying to figure it out without much success... I think I see a rake. :p
EJWilkins: You do see a rake, the answer's edited in at the top. wink

Congratulations on your 300th post, Ellie! I, too, see a rake and...??...and a brooding sky, which you know I love. smile

Yes...Garden Rake, having a quiet 300th post celebration with its friends and its resident photogapher.

Probably they are chatting about the sky, and seeing in it the promise of some cold weather for the start of winter.

They might also be chatting about how good it is to be living with a really capable photographer, who can document their lives for the amusement of their future generations.
EJWilkins: Who's to say what they do in private? They were just lounging around when I saw them reflected in this barrel of water wink

Congrats on the 300 Ellie and a good photo to celebrate with. Definitely a rake so I am guessing the rest are handles of garden tools. rather strange perspective implies the gardener is having a rest and dreaming, rather than raking up the leaves ;o)
EJWilkins: Thanks loads Mike.
The gardener who owned these was being very busy wink ... the answer's edited in at the top.
Congrats !! I have no clue what it is ..
EJWilkins: Thanks Shakara smile

Congratulations on yur 300th post, Ellie. Great photograph! Rain stops play, or in this case, gardening.(:o)
EJWilkins: Thanks Roz. In this case no, there wasn't any rain. I've edited in the how etc at the top. smile
Congratulations on 300. I too am guessing garden tools.
EJWilkins: Yes, reflected in a water butt. smile
Thanks MAry
Great silhouette shot, Ellie! Congratulations on your 300th post...
Is this a reflection on a rear-view mirror?...
EJWilkins: Thanks Carla, no, it's the reflection from the top of a water butt, rotated by 180 degrees

congratulations oldie, it's always a pleasure to see your shots and a pleasure to have comments from your enquiring mind, it is good to see you back from the wilderness.

It's not what the picture is but how you took it that interests me. My guess is that you had a nice sunny day and decided to pop the Ray Ban's infront of the lens? mal
EJWilkins: Cheeky blighter! You just wait till you get old!
... nope, you're wrong, and you'll have to come back to see why! tongue

Happy 300 on what I believe is turkey day in the USA.

What this is:

Take 1: You ran into a group of striking farm workers who bumped you over and you took a picture of them waving their tools in the air.

Take 2: You took a ride backwards into the middle ages and then ran into a group of striking farm workers, etc etc.

Take 3: This is a pile of pipes and a rake with some bramble trying to take over. You are shooting skywards with some glass thingy held in front of the lens. The thingy could be a drinking glass, a polarising filter held in your hand or maybe mal's suggestion of ray bans.

Take 4: You are sitting in a plastic domed dustbin hiding from your gardening work. Your work came looking for you.

I am now convinced that I am right on all four counts.

It is a great and intriguing picture. Clever of you to get us all to write stories for the picture book you are planning. I am still glad you are back.
EJWilkins: You're a sweetheart Louis, mind you, you're wrong on all four counts!

lol at Louis.

Or is it a reflection in a car window? mal
EJWilkins: Nope, it isn't a reflection in a car window, and I didn't know you were allowed so many guesses! tongue

Ellie, congratulations on #300, I think you are in a car of behind the glass somewhere, waiting for the elves to come, to pick up the rake and do your gardening, but you know elves are small and the rake is too tall for them so now the are trying to get on eachother shoulders, so that the top guy ( there are already 5 piled up) can get finaly the blas.... thing out off its hold, but at the eleventh try they went home, dinner was ready.
So my dear Ellie now you are on your own again, I would say, give it a try... see you at #301
EJWilkins: *grin* what a wonderful imagination you have Astrid.

... it's a reflection, rotated wink
Congrats :d
EJWilkins: Thanks Suby and Sinem. Where are you guys? Could do with a contact please smile
Very nice intriguing picture Ellie. Congrats for 300th post. Could this image represent a multitude of TV aerials?
EJWilkins: Aha, nice idea Richard, but 100 per cent wrong! grin
... the answer's edited in at the top. wink
Thanks for the best wishes
Happy 300th Ellie and great to have you back on SC. All the best Bernie.
EJWilkins: Thank you Bernie, that's such a sweet thing to say smile

Great shot Ellie, the sillouette is wonderful. You've reminded me that I should go see how many photos i've posted and if I have any milestones coming up!

As for what it is, it looks like yard tools? As for how it's taken i'm not entirely sure.
EJWilkins: check the total in your archive, it's the easiest way. Errm, you've just hit 400, but if you take a couple out from earlier on you can have a second shot at it, if you want to that is. wink
This is tools, a rake and some canes, reflected in a water butt then turned 180 degrees.
Hmm Ellie ... See you have had to 'rake' around for somefing. ('Somefing' is an example of the vernacular speech that many kids, that I teach, use)! Oh! er BTW I aint goin' ta catcha y'up smile. Damn! ... vernacular speech is catching! smile richard.
EJWilkins: You lot talk posh, they says sumfink here!
grin Thanks Richard
300 nice moment to share with us, 300 posts to discover your world, 300 kisses for you !!

An Alan Titchmarsh sculpture? Well done on the 300th Ellie *pals*
EJWilkins: Could be! perhaps he'd like this if it were made of steel, and reflected in a water butt wink
Thanks Chris ... and look after your back, take it easy.
Well done on the 300 Ellie. This has been shot at a rakish anglesmile
EJWilkins: *chuckle* very punny Bill, so, where's Ben? tongue

Happy 300th!

Garden/farm implements seen through some sort of glass?
EJWilkins: Thanks Jewlya .. reflected and rotated, the answer's edited in at the top. wink
Louis and Mal really crack me up Lol. When I fisrt saw this I thought wow Ellie's gone out and bought a fisheye lens but then I saw the bottom and changed that to Ellie's been drinking when she should have been working ! You got to the end of the bottle and decided to take a shot through it !
EJWilkins: They made me laugh too smile Nope, not through a bottle, empty or otherwise, I promise you. Taken at the allotments in Sway, a full water butt and some tools, rotated 180 degrees and not a lot else. I took care taking it, and it paid off .. you know how I just love spending my time editing pictures! grin
Garden implements through a glass darkly. Congraulations on reaching 300, a not inconsiderable milestone.
EJWilkins: Aha, a milestone, but I lied about my age! tongue
Reflected in a full water butt, rotated 180 degrees wink
Super shot Ellie. I love images that make you think and this one takes me back to childhood too. My Dad was a gardener (and his Dad before him), it was a part of his life and shots like this make it all come flooding back - water butts, rakes and all.

Congratulations on the 300! It seems a lifetime away for me at the moment!
Congratulations for your 300 great pics! This is a very special photo! It seems an allegorical photo! Very interesting!
