Suspended

I spotted this leaf suspended in a tree.

.....

I apologise, in advance, if I have not responded to any of yesterday's comments.

On Wednesday our eldest has a University interview and familiarisation visit, which will take all day. Very early start and quite a long journey.
He is delighted to have already been offered places at both Reading and Nottingham, to read Archaeology and Classical Studies, so the interview is a formality but the visit will be very useful.

In the evenings of Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, our youngest is performing in a play, not getting home until almost midnight.

So the chances are that the internet will not be used on Wednesday because there won't be anybody at home.

It's wonderful the way the leaf is suspended - it belongs and yet doesn't quite.
EJWilkins: It didn't belong in that tree, which was crab apple smile

LOL, some assembly is obviously required. The colors work great here and the water drops are a nice touch.
EJWilkins: Thanks Martin. I wondered how long it would stay suspended.

Wonderful closeup shot here, Ellie! And congratulations to your son for being offered places at the universities! You must be so proud of him smile
EJWilkins: We're very pleased, and he's delighted will accept the first offer and be able to enjoy his 'Gap Year' now. smile

So THAT'S what you've been doing. I should have known. Congratulations to your son AND your daughter. This is that wonderful time of the year when so much is happening! smile

And this leaf! Impaled and kept from falling. Will the twig ultimately release her and send her on her merry way? That's the question. Great eye, Ellie, for seeing and then capturing this!
EJWilkins: Time to stop now, draw a breath and then gear up for 25th ...

I wondered how long the leaf would stay in this tree, it'd blown there and looked so alien because the tree had loads of tiny crab apples in it
What a good angle here. A dead leaf in the sky... they're usualy on the floor... it changes and I like this.
EJWilkins: *grin* It was the only choice of angle Florence, the leaf was way up in the tree.
Ephemere beauty of a dead season smile
EJWilkins: Cor, that's a posh way of saying it Zeb smile

We have an expression in France that says to hang on to branches ... That's reality for this leaf !!!
Very lovely photo, so poetic !!! Ann
EJWilkins: Thanks Ann, that expression says it all smile

Goodness, well spotted. Lovely composition and colours.
EJWilkins: It was easy to see, luckily, the colour was glowing against the sky. It was caught up in a crab apple tree smile
This is just exquisite, Ellie! Well spotted and beautifully captured. (:o)
EJWilkins: Thanks Ros. smile
Your computer will be in withdrawal. I'm always afraid if that happens to mine. She knows she's loved so much and may feel rejected if someone is not stroking her keys. If I have to be away, I send her e-mails. LOL
EJWilkins: *grin* This one's too new to be affected like that, thank goodness.
In the balance - shall I fall or shall I stay ;o)

Nice colour contrast too.
EJWilkins: I don't think it had much choice, somehow it had got well and truly fastened, and into the wrong sort of tree too (makes me think of British Rail!)
What're you doing in a uni library?

Oh that time of the year - school plays etc. With us it is also the end of the academic year, the start of the summer holidays. At work the year end party. If things are unfortunately timed it can get hectic. Our schools close tomorrow for the start of the summer holiday. We had all our christmassy stuff - have to do it early otherwise no-one turns up.

Great picture - love the composition and colour contrast.
EJWilkins: We're on the run up to Christmas, and mock GCSE exams looming at the beginning of January. The play was that Scottish one, she was the gentlewoman and did well too. The whole play was very well done. So, after a couple of weeks of late nights (rehearsals etc evening & weekends) and a party after the last performance,we're all looking forward to a 'normal week' if there is such a thing! And suddenly it's December, again!
Great to have your kids being so succesful!!! I guess it's a parents delight and we all are with you, so don't worry about not sitting behind the computer, love the setting of the leave against the sky.
EJWilkins: It is a delight Patrick, we're lucky. smile
Lovely picture Ellie. Our eldest did Classical studies at Reading and loved it. She's doing a part time MA now at Worcester combining it with a full time job. I wish him well and I hope the play goes well also.
EJWilkins: Really? What a coincidence that is!
He's really looking forward to it. Making the choice isn't easy, not really, and the choice of a place to study is a huge part of your life. He likes the university, likes the area too (I grew up not too far away) and seems very relaxed about the whole thing now so at last he can get on and enjoy what's left of his gap year.
The Scottish Play went well too, well worth all the effort and long evenings of rehearsals. And now we can look forward to a bit of relaxing, before 25th wink

a bit like your life at the moment Ellie, in a state of suspension running around with too much to do with so little time. very lovely nature abstract. mal
EJWilkins: Phew, it's been 'in suspension' since they started walking! It's good though, and we're very lucky. Thanks Mal smile

It's like autumn is arrested and put on hold. I love the presence of the raindrops too. This singular burnished leaf shouts "Autumn" as much as if the whole of the New Forest was ablaze in the shades of autumn.

I think it's brilliant what your two are up to but make sure you get some you time in and amongst all their pursuits!
EJWilkins: I plan to get a bit of 'me time' next week, don't worry, even if it's only to escape and do some essential shopping, wrapping and posting. wink
I thought the same, sort of, this leaf almost glowed from it's perch up in the crab apple tree. I was quite pleased with the way the picture turned out.
Thanks Jose.

EJWilkins: Yep! Dangling! Cheers Chris smile
An autumnal detail captured good. By your text, I see that also you are very rolled! wink
