photoblog image Owl week

Owl week

The fourth of a bunch of pictures of owls for this week. There are just two different birds and each picture was taken in and around Lymington during 9th December, which was a dull, damp day.

This is one of the Eagle Owls from the Owl Sanctuary in Ringwood.

Owls are often brought into Lymington at the weekend, to get them used to people and also I expect for publicity.

~ Gallaxy ~ has some lovely pictures of other birds from the Sanctuary, taken while she was there.

and ~ Ferdi ~ has some superb wildlife pictures, today's is an owl.

Hilarious!!!
I immediately imagined I was looking at the front of its head, and the eyes and beak were completely obscured by its feathers...I started to laugh.
Love it, Ellie.
EJWilkins: Good to start the day with a smile Ray. smile

This is a real treat, was he angry with you beacause you did not give him something in return of taking lots of pictures grin nice captured!!!
EJWilkins: smile no, it wasn't angry, had just been taken out of the vehicle so was very interested in having a look round, rather than posing for a photograph

What is it looking at ? We didn't see yet the back of it's head ... You spent a long time with it ... Nice and original photo !!!
EJWilkins: It's looking at just about everything possible. Had just been taken out of the vehicle so was really interested in where it was, and what was to be seen.

I think this is my favorite of your owl photos so far!
EJWilkins: It's different from the usual sort of picture, I think sometimes people are worried about not showing a creature's face - but it can work wink

Me too. I think this is my favourite so far. Fabulous quality shot.

...Just at this moment, in the thumbnails, you have the rear view and Ferdi has the front view!
EJWilkins: Thanks for that Jose. Looking at it, I think now it could perhaps be a bit brighter - I feel a bit like the white rabbit at the moment - too little time. wink
Brilliant shot Ellie. I like the markings
EJWilkins: Thanks Richard, yes, I like the markings too

I love these 'ears' feather, so cute capture, very smart Ellie!
EJWilkins: I wonder if the feathers actually help guide sounds to the owl's ears, making them even more efficient hunters?
