Well spotted and beautifully taken- love the shallow DOF and I can't believe it is f9!
EJWilkins: Come on David, explain please smile

The clump of moss wasn't very big, and the camera was very close to it. The focusing distance of the 14-42 'kit' lens is remarkable, will get in closer than the 25cm quoted in the specifications.
This is a really beautiful shot, Ellie. Superb detail and colour. Composition is great too. A real nice shot!
It's always fascinating to see something that looks so fragile in such a seeming unaccommodating location.

This is a good find! Life getting a toehold in an inhospitable place.
This is an unusual composition because of the DOF...it makes the photo quite mysterious! Beautiful!
Lovely and very bright colours. Good use of dof.

Very lovely sweet and delicate image, ELlie. I quite like the in /out of focus bands. Very different from one what one would expect from your exif data.

It almost looks like selective coloring, Ellie! And at first I thought it was an underwater scene! Wonderful DOF.
EJWilkins: You're not the only person to think it's been selectively coloured, but it hasn't, honestly.
I think the depth of field is quite strange, almost as if two lines have been drawn across the picture, certainly shows how it works though don't you think?

I like it because it is different. I like the light and the contrast between the green "alive" colours and the "dead" grey rock. The DOF is also very strange and i like that. If I shall try to explain my feeling looking at this....it's like looking at something growing on a planet where it is supposed to be no life...
Amazing macro! The tips of the blades are just precious, Ellie...
This is a wonderfull shot Ellie. Great DOF

Great capture - the black and white of the surrounding for the plant is perfect.
Respectfully seen.
Good use of DOF. nice colours too.

Is it selective coloration or was this real?
EJWilkins: This was real Richa, the moss was growing on a wall made of grey stone
Beautiful photo really nicely done
