Empty rods

This is something of a visual illusion, because the beach in front of the fishing rods drops away quite significantly.

Taken in Portugal February 2007.

Nice framing and nice timing Ellie! Beautiful!
That is an excellent photograph. The poles frame the big wave beautifully.

In no time I see myself at those rods, as that's what I do, when I'm on vacation, a surf fishing. Can't wait till summer.

very nice, ellie. though the wave is nice, what really makes this shot for me is the three distinct regions of color. cool!
EJWilkins: Thanks for spotting that Alex, I did crop so the bands of sea and sand were almost equal. smile
Do they give up fishing ? Were they eaten by a big fish ? smile
Very graphic picture Ellie.
EJWilkins: No, the fisherman were higher up the beach, chatting to each other. smile

Since we can't see them, Ellie, are the fisherman lying down on the job? smile

I still can't believe you've had your "new" camera for a year!
EJWilkins: Absolutely right Ginnie, they were lying back having a chat higher up th ebeach. I have no idea if they caight enything

This was well spotted and well framed.
Without the information about the beach I would have assumed they had run from the wave

That's a cracking shot Ellie, well done. I thought maybe the fishermen had seen the big wave and done a runner in fear smile
WOW Ellie! What a shot! The sky, the waves... The unmanned fishing poles... wink
Everything is so perfect about this photo... Congratulations.
EJWilkins: Thank you so much Carla. smile

That's my kind of fishing. The rods also take care of grilling the fish? Inviting shot, Ellie!

superb Ellie, hope the fishermen didn't fall insmile
Great capture of the waves in all their stages. Great sky and lovely proportions. (:o)
EJWilkins: What surprised me more than anything was the lumpy horizon. There were huge waves arriving, it's the Atlantic.

Great shot - I love the way you have framed it with those rods. That surf does look just like it's coming straight at you!

Excellent. It reminds me somewhat of the picture that Nev has up on the moment. Only he doesn't have rods.
