One, two three ... stand!

Whew, it was a struggle but she managed it.

This little sequence of pictures was taken only about ten minutes after I arrived, so the foal was probably only about forty five minutes old.

It tottered, very unsteadily, over to Mum and leant on her for a moment or two, very unsteady on its' feet.

It was a warm day, not particularly sunny, but you can see the foal hasn't dried off from being born yet.

...

There's a bit of information about who owns the ponies and other livestock on the New Forest in with yesterday's picture.

Quite an amazing series, Ellie. I am struck by how large the foal's head and legs are in comparison to the rest of its body.
EJWilkins: The rest of the body catches up in not time at all, once they start eating smile

So cute, Ellie! You got some good "action" shots of the new born trying to get it's footing. I bet she's running around about now!

Beautifully portrayed.
EJWilkins: wink Wait and see how long it takes ...

I saw yesterday's and thought 'how beautiful', but today's is even more so and I've got watery eyes from witnessing through you such an amazing thing! Wonderful Ellie.
EJWilkins: It was truly amazing, I was so incredibly lucky and, you know, I wasn't even intending to use that road, but the main road was blocked. Serendipity at its' best. smile

A lovely series of images. I never really appreciated how small the body in comparison with the length of the legs.
EJWilkins: They really are quite skinny when they're born, but fill out remarkably quickly, same as human babies smile
