Barn Owl

Trust

This one, for me, is very much an "Awww!" moment, such tenderness in both directions, which shows how happy the bird is.

The falconer used the name "Earl of Ducie"
.

A lovely sigh, Ellie. As you say, both bird and handler seem at ease with each other.

I know the falconer has the special love for these birds and they feel it (the birds), they see the falconer as their own so that is why they bring back their animals they catch to share.....wonderful picture.
You did a great job.

My eldest son (3 and a half) and I had an "owl" experience while on holiday last month. It was great to see his reaction to the owls, particularly when one came to land on my hand.

This is a lovely picture.
A very well taken photograph, Ellie.

Yes, you are so right. Beautifully captured smile
Ellie, lovely shot of a beautiful barn owl(and human that is holding him)
I have seen them here in a Birds of Prey center but they are much darker in color.
EJWilkins: You're in Canada, so I wonder if the local Barn Owl population is slightly darker than the British population? ... I've looked it up.
The Latin name for the European bird is Tyto alba, the subspecies most common in Canada is Tyto alba pratincola, and it is darker

Lovely picture. Did you get to touch or stroke this owl? I have, and they are incredibly soft.
EJWilkins: No I didn't this time, there were too many people hoping to have a go! I just tried to get some pictures without people or ropes in the way.
