Almourol Castle

This is one of the most interesting castles I've ever seen, even though it's now a ruin. It's on a teardrop shaped island in the River Tagus, was a Templar fortress built by Gualdim Pais after he'd finished with the Templar Convent and Fortress at Tomar.

The castle is - here -
There's more about the castle - here - and - here -

A good symbol of the power the Templars had.
This is a charming castle, Ellie, one I should like to own. I would not allow any Phillips to enter.

very well captured indeed Ellie, the viewpoint makes it really quit intimidating.
This is very grand Ellie: I have to admit I had not heard of this place until now
Things to do with the Templars are fascinating Ellie, this is a great looking castle, ruin or otherwise.
Quite a history to this one then, nicely captured.

Ellie - this is a WONDERFUL composition! I reall like the POV - and being a water person, I'm so happy you included the river. The detail is great in the entire composition.
