photoblog image Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Cape, Cape Espechal.

Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Cape, Cape Espechal.

The view from afar

The Sanctuary of Our Lady of the Cape is perched at the very end of Cape Espechal (Cabo Espechal), not far from Sesimbra.  - Azola - is the nearest town

The sea to the west (left in this picture) is the Atlantic Ocean.

A very striking image, especially when you compare the immensity of the rock layers to the relative smallness of the Sanctuary.

Stunning light Ellie. What a wonderful place to have a sanctuary - you could really get away from the cares of everyday life here.

Gorgeous image and place. It certainly lives up to the name of a sanctuary. I really like the breaking waves - it helps define the depth.
wonderful light Ellie.

A grandious, atmospheric photo- especially the dark thunderclouds- like a painting by Corot or...! This is a lonely place, where you given up to wind, weather and oceanmight be deeply touched in a religious way!
Lovely, lovely picture Ellie. All of it.

What an ideal setting for a building of this nature Ellie, as Ingrid says you had the good fortune of this beautiful light as well.
I like the contrast Ellie and the lighting, it looks as though the sancturay might be in for a battering by the looks of those clouds.
Wow! I like this! I like the golden depth of the scene and tones!
Wow, awesome view! The sunlight is fantastic! Only the line of the rock is in the middle of the image which may seem a bit restless, besides that it is great shot.

Ah yes, I see the resemblance, but yours beats mine hands down for drama, mood, focus, lack of scratches and dust - in fact everything. I love it.
