photoblog image Rose week #4

Rose week #4

A bit of an experiment. This is a very close view of a lovely big, loose petalled rose.

What do you think? Did the experiment work? Can you tell it's a rose? Would it have been better to see the whole flower?

Yes, I could tell it was a rose and I think it's beautiful.
This is wonderful Ellie: the colours & focussing are exquisite
Yes it's a rose and we are in the heart of it! Well done Ellie.

Works for me. Ellie. I can guess it's a rose but that's not important. The lovely pastel hues and the subtle textures are what matters and that comes through here.
That fine and delicate. I like this feeling of softness! Good job, Ellie. It is a very different style to what we get used to publish
I like it. It's a beautiful rose.

You can definitely tell it's a rose. I think it would be neither better nor worse to see the whole flower - just a different picture! I like the focus on just part of the edge of the petal as that's where the interest lies. Beautiful.

Well, definitely not the traditional whole rose, a subject that was beaten to death here at shutter and almost everywhere else. smile
In this case, it doesn't really matter what it is, as you almost moved into an abstract category.
Composition wise, I think there is a better way to present it. Say, scroll down, till you see 1x2 frame. Do you like it better? You have a more balanced shot and a better focus on those erotic lines. smile

I absolutely love this, Ellie, and would not change thing about it. It's clearly a rose but because it's so abstract, it doesn't matter what it is, as others have said. If I were to hang this on my wall, I'd clone out that one imperfection, but that's just me. A Likey, for sure!
Lots of potential for some intrigueing abstract stuff here Ellie ... closer cropping rotating, layering two images etc etc.
I really like the the top left hand quarter.

A wonderful pic (and experiment)- a rosescape with some red lines, fogs of smell and waters of freshness- it is as if you are crawling like a bee or another insect inside of the rose and seems to get lost in the depth of the flower! A pic like a painting!

it works very well Ellie. There is enough to let us know that it is a rose but it is abstract enough to let it take us to many other places too

I'm not sure I would have identified it as a rose, but I love the picture anyway. I like that the image is not drenched in light.

Very effective view Ellie, I don't think it is important to be able to tell what flower it is the detail and the colours work so well on their own. Keep on experimenting.
Very special and experimental but totally worthwhile to post it.
Focus & colour create a beautiful image.
Preciosa! Una imagen muy delicada y poetica. Excelente.
Wonderful experiment, I love this old pink !!
