At the Allotment - January
Robin in AsparagusThis little chap was singing very quietly, and had clearly attracted the heart of another. I watched them for some time to be sure - they didn't fight as can so often happen if one strays into another's territory in the winter. They were both singing gently, almost mirroring each others' tunes.
They were, unfortunately, a little camera shy so this was the best picture I could manage. So you'll have to take my word for it.
I've noticed at home this week that our local robin has also found itself a mate. I don't know if this i early or if it's usual for them to pair up as soon as the days start to lengthen.

This series of pictures was taken at local Allotments. This is land owned by the council that can be rented for growing plants (fruit/vegetables/flowers) for use in the home. The land is separated into measured strips, rather like the mediaeval field systems.
I do not have an allotment. I am grateful to the tenants for letting me wander around with my camera.
Picture taken 16th January 2009
