At the Allotment - January

Rusty Butt

... A water butt that is! Sometimes the English language travels rather badly!

Still serviceable, and deliciously shinily rusty because it had been raining and there was a sudden shaft of sunlight, this old metal container being used to store water looks as if it's beginning to be overtaken by nature and perhaps return to the soil in a few years time.
.....

This series of pictures are from local Allotments, which is land owned by the council that can be rented for growing plants (fruit/vegetables/flowers) for use in the home. The land is separated into measured strips, rather like the mediaeval field systems.

I do not have an allotment. I am grateful for the tenants who didn't mind me taking a few pictures.

Great texture, lighting and details, Ellie! I wonder if the gardeners are viewing your pictures? They would love them, I'm sure.

Rusty butt...something you get from sitting on rusty drums.

Great image, nature winning again
Lovely picture, Ellie. So many "nature" colours and textures.
A nice scene of dignified rustification.

Just been catching up with the previous images in the series - it looks like an interesting place for a photographic project. Love the colours of this - the rust and the bluey-green look wonderful together.

You`ll have all us `rust` fanatics smacking our lips at this one, Ellie! (:o)
Superb capture Ellie. The rust texture is fabulous!
Poor old thing...that blue twine is strangely decorative Ellie
Somehow an allotment isn't an allotment without an old 40 gallon barrel somewhere!
Lovely details and textures Ellie and you were so lucky to get the shaft of light.

ironic but intriguing juxtaposition smile
The natural world is winning but this is a winning image Ellie. richard
Love the details, beautiful shot!
There is some element of the photo that confuses to me. It would mainly emphasize the good clearness of the focus!
