Southampton Old Cemetery

The Angel

I have chosen this picture of this beautifully carved, comforting, angel for today, Easter Sunday, because it fits so well with the story as told in the King James Bible.

The Gospel According to St. Matthew 28 vs 5 to 7

And the angel answered and said unto the women, "Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said.

Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead and, behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you."

And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and did run to bring his disciples word.

.....

I wish you a joyful and happy Easter.

Ellie! You bought an E-1? That's awesome! Good for you. It's got to be one of the nicest cameras image-quality wise -- just not much res. Great for up to 8x10 and online though -- a fantastic buy! smile

Oh, Ellie, this is the most beautiful photo today- the angle, the details- only a person for whom Easter is a special feast can take such a pious pic! - and I can only repeat the words the angel has said- for ever! Many thanks for this photo! A Joyful and Peaceful Easter also to you and yours!

Ellie, this to me is Easter, and the words from Matthew with this post, thank you so much.
Sometimes 'we' froget.
The angle of the angel, wonderful.
Have a Happy Easter.
Many thanks Ellie.
Happy Easter to you and yours!
We had these very words for the lesson at church this morning Ellie, and the preacher called his sermon "What a Comeback." A very apt picture for today.
I like this picture, Ellie, and the way the angel is looking down on all of us.

Now this very co-incidental. Only early today I was up in the cemetery and I saw this and thought about the photographic opportunities (I was camera-less for once). Very appropriate image, Ellie for today.

I see what you mean, Ellie, about the connection with my image on Friday. I actually told the Easter story to my 8-year-old grandson the other day and was amazed at how hard it was to tell the story without it sounding preposterous! So many questions...and yet we hinge our faith on it!

Thank you very much Ellie. I love the image and the message. smile
A fitting Easter image Ellie. Sadly most kids would prefer to see chocolate eggs and the real meaning is lost on them. More distressing is that religious instruction is not given much in schools for fear of offending people from other cultures sad
You know how I like this kind of shots, this one is wonderful !!
Nice Easter theme
Cheers

Reading Ginnie's comment I was thinking that this what faith is about. To have the knowledge and believe in what you cannot see (or explain without feeling preposterous).

Bravo - an excellent post.
