Winchester Cathedral

Long view, from St Cross

Taken when Tiff and I were there in May 2008.

.....

I've been in touch with David Wilson - Artographer - because I noticed that way back in March he said was having trouble with the internet because his ISP accidentally disconnected his line ... and everything had gone downhill from then on.

He's asked me to say that he's fine but is still having problems, attempts to use dial-up were a disaster.

He misses the friendliness of Shutterchance and is hoping to be able to get back online in the not too distant future because he's hoping to move house.

.....
I'm having a spell of just three pictures a week, will see how it goes.

A quite different view of the cathedral- majestic, grandious, overwhelming on the former days- seen at the distance it looks quite modester- but still large and still impressive! I like the row of roof lines- a view "sur les toits de" Winchester, but never sur le toits de Cathedrale!- and the plenty of green!- and the mossy stones in the foreground (a wall?)!

Quality, not quantity, Ellie! A fine view across the rooftops looking north to the Cathedral. I was surpriosed not to see some hills beyond, though. Perhaps those around the prison and the Police HQ are just out of shot.

fine shot Ellie, l was intrigued by the line of houses which leads the eye to the cathedral, probably because we wouldn't have houses with all those Chimneys in this country

Ohmygod - this was taken from a very high vantage point indeed!

Happy memories Ellie
Almost merges with the skyline! Lots of lovely mature trees amongst the red roofs.

Lovely english scene Ellie
Great view Ellie..but I too like the roof tops and chimneys popping up between the trees.
I miss his pictures and I hope he returns soon. Three day week eh?
Somewhere I'd like to go one day Ellie, a very good viewpoint. Thanks for the David news, I had wondered what had happened to him, his land/seascapes are so enjoyable.
