I don't think there are enough superlatives to describe this stonework.

It all seems delicate and flimsy...I suppose that is a part of the artistry that is so impressive.

Nice one, Ellie.
EJWilkins: It's astonishing to see. The windows are huge and seem to be separated by incredibly fragile stone columns - that support this amazing roof.
Ours was a fleeting visit, with more time I'd have taken more pictures - it's well worth looking at the King's website
Very intricate design... these kid of scenes are always tricky - either you expose for the details inside the hall, or you expose for the stained glass - really hard to get both. Ideally should be taken as 2 shots and then made into a HDR.
EJWilkins: I've never really got to grips with HDR, I'm sure if you'd been there to take some pictures they would have been amazing.
This was handheld, and more luck than anything else that it came out unblurry. wink

Ooooh - I've just got to go there some day Ellie!
EJWilkins: Chris, I know you'd absolutely love Cambridge, but it needs several days and nothing else to do except wander and look.

Magnificent Ellie
EJWilkins: It isn' truly magnificent
I knew it's was King's from the thumb.
No need to say anything more.

EJWilkins: Unique. smile
There aren't Ellie so I will just settle for magnificent
EJWilkins: It was jawdroppingly amazing to see it for real, the tracery is so delicate and the columns so narrow that they don't seem capable of supporting the roof - the architects and masons clearly knew what they were doing

Wow great detail captured
This is just magnificent Ellie. Very nicely captured!
Like Richard, being a local, I just knew where this was Ellie. We went from school, back in the 50's to a carol servcie by the choir one day, I needn't say more, it was great, even to a 15 year old.
Stunning stonework Ellie..Well captured.
Lace Stone!
Very beautiful!
Wonderful photo of wonderful artistry. Those old stonemasons were true masters of their craft.
EJWilkins: You're absolutely right Sheila, and their skill stands the test of time
Such fine craftsmanship form an earlier age Ellie, no words needed.
