photoblog image Osteospermum

Osteospermum

This week I am ...

... playing around with a new lens.

The flower is an Osteospermum, very late in flower and growing in a shady spot. Deliberately edited to be slightly soft - because I like the effect.

Very nice Ellie, but I want to push that bottom right peal out of the right.
Nice Ellie, have fun with the new lens.
EJWilkins: I'm going to enjoy using it Sheila, and fiddling around with the results too.

This is the first year I did not have osteospermum in my garden though I had a yellow flower of something similar. Lovely processing and colour.
keep having fun with your lens, this is lovely.
EJWilkins: I'm going to, it's brilliant fun to have something new - it's a rather early Christmas present!

Pray tell, Ellie...what is the new lens? I really like the colors of this image.
EJWilkins: It's a 35mm Macro lens. I'm still getting used to it. DoF can be astonishingly shallow when it's "wide open" which can make focussing interesting. It's a very "bright" lens too, so more forgiving of poor light.
Wonderful Ellie. The tones are superb!

Sorry, me not understand. New lens and focus not so good? Yesterday's geranium was great but not sure about this one, in terms of focus. My guess is that it is a macro lens smile
EJWilkins: Ha! You should know me by now Louis! I don't often do much editing, but when this was resized it lost clarity, and I thought it looked quite nice so I edited it a bit more to soften the whole thing.
Yes, new lens and ... wink
