Ha Ha!

I detect a friendly contest between the Tiff and the Ellie.

Both achieve honorable mentions here.
EJWilkins: Thank you Ray, and you're right, it's very friendly rivalry smile

It's a wonderful POV, Ellie, and delightful autumn colors.
EJWilkins: Beech leaves always seem to have such a rich autumn colour, they're wonderful

Actually I think this did succeed Ellie: aren't the colours wonderful!
EJWilkins: Not quite, another one tomorrow, and the next day, and ... till you all get bored!
This has to be my favourite, like the colour of honey.
EJWilkins: The background helps a lot I think

lovely image Ellie
EJWilkins: Thanks
Great use of DOF
EJWilkins: Yes, wide open this lens has a very shallow focus
I think you did succeed, Ellie. Lovely image with wonderful colours.

Is this going to develop into a Chris / Ellie competition?
EJWilkins: It was a slightly tongue in cheek thing Sheila, with us both trying to achieve the same thing. I've a new camera so can make loads of excuses - and blame the equipment, not my eyes!

It's quite difficult doing this sort of close focussing. Chris and you have obviously had some fun with a bit of gentle competition going on!
Ingrid
EJWilkins: It's actually quite a challenge Ingrid, and something I'd like to be able to get absolutely right. But I've got a feeling that trying to do it outdoors is almost impossible, because the slightest breath of wind moves the leaf out of focus. Fun trying though, and more examples of the experiment to come ...
Absolutely gorgeous Ellie!
EJWilkins: Thank you Richard

Now I do like this very arty
EJWilkins: Yikes! Do I "do" arty? wink
I love the overall autumn pumpkin colours.
EJWilkins: It's a wonderful time of year for rich natural colours isn't it.

Very nice use of narrow DOF here. Beautiful rich fall color.
EJWilkins: Still trying Laurie, more to come over the next few days because I keep on tring to 'get it right'
The focusing looks good to me Ellie. You have achieved the Autumn atmosphere well.
EJWilkins: The atmosphere was the easy part, the beech leaves are such a wonderful colour
So this is your version of Chris leaf then ellie. I think I will call it a tie between you.
EJWilkins: Yep, it's my version ... and there are more to come! I bet you get bored with them!
Its lovely Ellie.
EJWilkins: Glad you like it Linda
Agreed Ellie, wonderful colours and you are having fun.
EJWilkins: Sometimes it's hard to know what to take a picture of, so it's nice to have a friendly challenge smile

I think you are now where I was about a year ago - wondering why I can't get a macro pin sharp. You suggested it might be the wind - even if slight.
Nice warm colours.
EJWilkins: You're absolutely right there Louis, the slightest breath of wind and the thing moves what seems to be a zillion miles out of focus. Incredibly irritating, but great fun trying to beat the weather at its own game!
This looks good to me Ellie. Wonderful autumn colour this year and I have taken almost nothing of it
EJWilkins: I don't think I took any autumn pictures last year Bill, I've certainly made up for it this time though.
You've got a good excuse, you're a man of business now smile

Yes, the autumnal colours are overwhelmingly beautiful- honey- yellow- that is the appropriate word! I saw today thousands of autumn trees glowing and burning in the sun! I very like your photo, and I love Chris' pic, too! The autumnal colours seem to intermingle - like on an impressionistic painting- as if there were a stream of colours glittering in the autumn sun! Bill is right: "Wonderful autumn colour this year"!
EJWilkins: What a wonderful way you have of describing autumn colours Philine, you're so right.
Beautiful Colours
EJWilkins: THey are beautiful aren't they Martin
