Autumn

Silver Birch

Still messing around with that shallow focus and the 35mm macro lens, to see what it's capable of.

Silver Birch leaves are about 1 1/2 inches long and look very fragile and delicate, so it's quite a suprise to see such a tough looking edge.

Ooh Ellie - you really are getting EXQUISITE results now!
EJWilkins: It's a heck of a lot easier when the leaf isn't joined onto a twig that's blowing in the wind! wink

Funny thing about macro photography, Ellie...leads to all kinds of unexpected discoveries about the world we normally trample on. [grin]
EJWilkins: Fascinating isn't it smile

Perfect focus point Ellie, very very nice
EJWilkins: Thanks
And the fun and exploration continues - and its getting better and better all the time. Amazing what the camera sees, isn't it?
EJWilkins: It is amazing what the camera sees - and how much you can 'go into' an image too, to find detail

Yes, a gem of autumnal leaf! I very like your composition! - I'm daily fascinated by the fabulous coulours this year and I daily pick up a leaf to give it to my mother who cannot go out by herself!
EJWilkins: That's a lovely thing to do Philine smile
This is brilliant Ellie, I think you should keep messing as you put it smile, if these are the results.
EJWilkins: I'm enjoying it Linda smile

Did you have your camera on a tripod
EJWilkins: No, this new camera has inbuilt IS, which means it works with any lens that's attached to it.
A charming size to this beautifuyl image Ellie.
EJWilkins: Thanks, and it makes the leaf look absolutely huge too!
Nice and close Ellie and it works well in this panorama type format.
EJWilkins: It was interesting working out the best crop for this, glad I chose the right one smile
Good job your on digital Ellie..This would cost a fortune with film. Shots plus to get this result. Well done.
EJWilkins: Oh goodness, in the film days I'd never have been able to mess around like this, far too expensive and also too much in the hands of the photo-labs.
Someone's enjoying their E-30 and 35mm macro wink

Lovely shot Ellie -- as always.
EJWilkins: I certainly am enjoying it Iain. It's made me wonder what the 50mm macro would be like, but it's waaaay too unaffordable
Well this is rather good! smile
EJWilkins: Well, thank you Mr Phillips smile
another DOF lesson
No autumn down here..... :-(
But we make do
Cheers
Rob
