Warm as Toast

Bonfire Night.

A picture taken some time ago for a friendly challenge on the Olympus UK E-System User Group.

I thought it was appropriate for today, November 5th - because this is the day in 1605 when Guy Fawkes was captured, sealing the fate of those who had conspired to blow up Parliament in the so-called
Gunpowder Plot .

Nowadays not many people celebrate this at home, due to "Health and Safety" concerns, and also legislation surrounding the sale of fireworks, so there are a number of community displays around the country.

One bonfire in Ripon, near York where Fawkes lived, allows locals to vote on the "Guy" who will be burned on the fire.
This article explains whose effigy they are burning this year.

A rather ornate toasting fork, Ellie.

Love that row of crocodile teeth across the bottom, too.
Great fire--something looks mighty good... mmm...

Nice shot Ellie. Toast in front of an open fire reminds me of my childhood

Yes, a really warm feel while loking at your pic- the fire colours are captured very well and the toast looks so delicious- quite cosier than the toaster I'm using myself and I saw recently in GB in the hotels at breakfast time! -
Interesting your information about 'Bonfire Night' (I'll follow your link)!

That toasting fork is rather unusual I think. Nice composition.

I'm not at all surprised that they chose Gordon Brown for a toasting! There's nothing quite like the taste of toast cooked on an open fire like this. Great pic.
