Hehehehe - this is immensely amusing Ellie. Do they always use these things?
EJWilkins: I'm not sure, but as I've seen more than one group of Portuguese Police using them I think they might be used instead of walking - helps them to cover more ground whilst still being in contact with pedestrians if they need any help.
I have always thought people looked a little goofy on those Segways. I like the way the cop on the left is all "look ma--no hands!"
EJWilkins: Me too, but these Police weren't in the least goofy I can assure you - but I do think they were enjoying themselves

Fun, too.

I have ridden one around streets and gardens in Bangkok, and loved the experience.

I always intended to buy a Segway when the price dropped to a point I could afford...however, disappointing sales have not allowed the price reduction to occur!
EJWilkins: They look like great fun Ray, but probably only for short distances. Better than those invalid car things too.

LOl, do these pack a v8 under the bonnet grin
EJWilkins: Hah! Imagine the speed it'd make them go! Zooooooooooom!
They seem having fun when the others look so tired!
Fine capture Ellie.
EJWilkins: It was an incredibly hot day Richard, and this hill is very steep
Ha...this is a first for me. A good idea..They must pay for themselves by not wearing out their boots. Good one Ellie.
EJWilkins: I think it's a good idea too

I think they would be fun
EJWilkins: So do I smile
What a great idea. I want one.
EJWilkins: Me too, for doing local shopping, it'd be more useful than the car
These are meant to be great fun, but I know what would happen if I had a go!!
EJWilkins: Hmm, I'd probably fall off!
Oh this is fantastic. I wonder if they like it or feel rather silly?
EJWilkins: I think they were enjoying themselves Chad, they aren't the first Portuguese Police I've seen using these Segways, they seem a good idea too
Great fun shot Ellie, I can't imagine one of these in a car chase though, and knowing my daughter, who is a police officer, she wouldn't be seen dead on one of these.
EJWilkins: Don't worry, there are also Police cars and Police motor bikes. I think these are for "foot patrol", making the steep hills easier to climb
I would love to try one of these out. The policia looks so friendly they might have let you try.
EJWilkins: I wouldn't have had the courage to ask, but maybe they would have let me!
Why is this funny? Dunno but it isgrin
EJWilkins: It made me chuckle too, haven't a clue why
It seems that only women are fit in Portugal.

richard
EJWilkins: Oh no, not true, I've seen women Police riding these things too. This particular street is long and the hill very steep.
people laugh when you see them being used but secretly they would love a go on one, nice capture
EJWilkins: Spot on! I'd love to have had a go.

How will they keep in shape to run after thiefs????
Great picture grin
EJWilkins: I think there's quite a knack to keeping balance, if nothing else.

So they didn't mind you taking the pic. I wouldn't do it here unless they weren't looking.
