photoblog image Back!

Back!

Bullfinch eating dandelion seed.

The picture's meant to be a bit of a visual pun - "back" as in "I'm back".

Ongoing computer/internet issues and simply "not enough time to do everything that needs doing" have kept me from doing anything much online, including this site and Facebook, for far too long. The "I'll get around to it, and fix problems in few days" somehow magically turned into many months. Where did the time go?

The computer and internet seem to be behaving a lot better after last week's bit of technical intervention and tweaking, which means that when the thing is turned on it's actually connecting to the internet properly - which helps.

Having also had problems with email (which seemed to be a combination of connection problems / the ISP automatic spam filters stopping mail arriving and/or automatically rejecting anything it decided was too big) I've eventually  switched over to gmail. If perhaps you sent emails and didn't receive a reply, they weren't ignored, they either didn't arrive or my reply got dumped by the server.

It was good brilliant to meet so many people in Stratford. Was it that long ago?

Oh, does anybody know if it's easy change a site name on here?

Very funny, Ellie...made me smile.

Nice to see you "back" after such a long time.
EJWilkins: Thanks Ray, it'll take a while to get back into the swing of things. Not least finding the time to look at other people's pictures.

Beautiful Bullfinsh, Ellie
EJWilkins: Thanks Sue. Have just taken a quick look at your site - lots of lovely bright and airy pictures.

Dear Ellie great to have you back and it was wonderful to meet you, if you like to change your site name, maybe ask the administrators, they know the answer and can you tell how it is done.
EJWilkins: Thanks Astrid - it was good, let's hope you can get over to UK again before too long. Will contact admin, I'm sure they'll help

Welcome back Ellie: a fine shot - hopefully the first of many. I did actually email you during your absence. Perhaps you would be so kind as to let me have your gmail adress.

I don't exist on Facebook any more: couldn't really see the point of it
EJWilkins: Sorry, if I didn't reply then either your email didn't arrive or my reply got trashed by the server. New email address on its way to you.
Facebook is an odd sort of thing, but an easy sort of way of communicating the same thing to distant family - especially if emails don't work!
I think you just go into my account and preferences.

Good to have you back...Stratford does seem ages ago!
EJWilkins: Oh, didn't know I could "just do it" and change the name that easily. All I need to do now is decide on a name!
Stratford WAS ages ago!

Good to see you back Ellie smile
EJWilkins: Thanks Zed. As I said to Ray, it'll take a while to get back into the swing of things, easier with the days getting shorter though.
Rather rare little bird. You don't often spot them in the full.
Little pity it is not a full frontal

Nice meeting you Ellie. I guess a mail to John or a new account would do for the name changing part.
EJWilkins: You're right, we don't often see Bullfinches, and when we do they refuse to co-operate.
Will investigate the settings, but need to work out what to use instead of hte current name!
Welcome back! My advise would be the same as Bill's - just go into my account and change what you want.
EJWilkins: Thanks Mary.
Will investigate, and think what to call the place too!
erm Ellie ... Oh yes I remember you ... come back and stay Ellie
EJWilkins: *grin* ... yes, I'll stay although I probably won't be on here every day. Never intended to be away for so long
Welcome back Ellie. I look forward to many more images from you.
EJWilkins: Thank you kind sir. smile
Hopefully there'll be some fine images in amongst those I upload.

Good to have you back Ellie
EJWilkins: Thanks Vintage, it's good to be back
Hello, Ellie! Glad you sorted out your computer problems. I have some of those myself, lately, and a thousand others! (:o)
EJWilkins: Yes, I can relate to the thousands of others too, although probably different 'others' from you. Hope you're okay. smile
Hi Ellie, its good to see you back. I had awful trouble with spam and internet, but all is good now.
It was nice to me you in Stratford smile
EJWilkins: It WAS nice to meet up in Stratford, let's hope we can do it again some time. Spam and awkward mail servers are more than an irritation, you don't realise things aren't working properly until somebody tells you - which they can't always do by email!

That was April, Ellie, YES! I'm so glad you're back. Perfect image for this celebration. smile
EJWilkins: April! Yikes! Thanks a million Ginnie smile
Welcome back Ellie. Glad some of the problems are sorted out.
EJWilkins: Hopefully all sorted. Now all I need to do is juggle things to find a bit of time, I've got used to being offline you see. I'm sure the darker evenings will make a difference, and help a bit.
Hope you and yours are well.

My Account -> Preferences -> Edit -> Site name. Change and save. Your web address will remain http://ellie.shutterchance.com/ but the Ellie's_pics will change to what you enter and save.

With all the - I am glad you are back, I was getting tired of your christmas picture smile
EJWilkins: Yerrs! It was a bit embarrassing having that picture there, especially as there was a risk it might have something for this year's Christmas right next to it if 'something' wasn't done to fix the computer etc before December.
Amazing how time flies isn't it?
Thanks for the tip, am planning to probably use initials and surname, need to change the site address too. There are reasons!

Looks like the little fall is wearing a woollen shawl across his back!

Good to have you back again; you were only mentioned in the Land of the Bacon Butty two weeks or so ago!
EJWilkins: Now you mention it, it does look as if he's wearing a shawl.

Good to be back, but finding the time is a bit of an issue just now.
I'm pleased to see you back Ellie after our brief meeting at Stratford, and a good image to return with as well.
EJWilkins: It was lovely to meet you at Stratford Brian and yes, it was all too brief. Let's hope we can all do it again some time soon.
