He looks to be quite appreciative of the snack and is really going to town on it. Very nicely captured and presented, Ellie. Only spotted woodpeckers in our garden twice this year and was lucky enough to get a few good shots before they flew off. For some reason they are not as plentiful as some of the other species we have here.
EJWilkins: He was on there for about five minutes which gave me time to take quite a lot of pictures, it was hard to choose which to share. He seemed to be filling his beak to feed youngsters.
This bird feeder is quite a way from the house, so I thikn the birds feel a bit safer

Oh well done Ellie: this is a super compilation of images of this colourful bird
EJWilkins: I was so chuffed with them. I took loads, and surprisingly most of them turned out okay.

This is an excellent group of pictures.
EJWilkins: Pleased you think so Louis. I've learned a lot from other people over the last few years. wink
Lucky you to see this and clever you getting this excellent trio of pictures
Such a lovely montage Ellie.
Great captures!
Brilliant images, Ellie! So clear and sharp. Beautiful birds, aren`t they? We have one in our garden, too, but he never comes to the bird feeders, and is very elusive when it comes to catching him on camera. (:o)
Ah this is the rascal that knocks my wooden bird feeder to the ground.

How lucky were you Ellie, and you have captured the woodpecker wonderfully. My parents occasionally get one in there garden as well, but never when i'm there..!!!
I had one in my garden last week on a telegraph pole, the shots I took are no where near as good as these Ellie, fantastic smile
