photoblog image Silver Studded Blue

Silver Studded Blue

Silver Studded Blue (Plebeius argus)

Second of a short series of three pictures this one is the female of the species - she isn't blue, presumably a camouflage adaptation.

Photographed on heathland in July this year, the plant is a variety of heather.

The females aren't always very blue Ellie: you have endless patience
EJWilkins: I didn't feel very patient chasing these little things around, they move remarkably quickly!
Another great capture, Ellie. Love the colour in this one. (:o)
Another superb one Ellie!
Beautifully soft and detailed.
This is a fine shot.
Very nicely caught Ellie.
This is just beautiful Ellie. So delicate.
EJWilkins: And also an extremely lucky shot!
