Doesn't want to part with her mom. smile Wonderful take, Ms. Ellie. Wonder why not 700x700. This would refine the composition. The "almost" square makes me a bit unsettled. smile
EJWilkins: I didn't ever think about making it exactly square, I just cropped to where I was happy with the picture to finish. Hadn't thought much about the symbolism either, to be honest! Maybe that's why I'll never make a poet. wink
Very dramatic, I love it.
EJWilkins: Pleased you think so Sheila, when I saw this solitary seed it almost begged to be photographed.

Awww, so sweet, Ellie. I especially like that one branch on the right that has its fingers pinched together. Nothing unsettling about this for me! smile
EJWilkins: Funny isn't it, all those little seed stalks look like little fingers in various poses. Couldn't have cropped any of them out.

Simple, yet with a whole story behind it. Beautiful, Ellie.
EJWilkins: Nature is simple, but incredibly complex!

The very last one: well taken Ellie!
EJWilkins: And now I bet that little seed is busy putting down roots to become a giant!
Phooey to square, this is fine as it is smile
EJWilkins: To be honest Bill, the exact shape didn't register when I was cropping this
What a geat capture, I like this, a tight crop of jus the focal subject would also make an interesting image for me.
EJWilkins: That idea did cross my mind Martin, but the resolution wasn't brilliant.
Very very delicate...superb Ellie.
EJWilkins: Nature is quite delicate isn't it. smile

Your picture is strong on symbolism - sort of new year's message; come now kid, cut the string and get going :p

By the way, I think the picture improves even more with a white background.
EJWilkins: Get away with you Louis, you know I don't do symbolism! Hadn't thought of a white background, it does look rather amazing doesn't it. Pity we can't choose it for just the one image now and again
Brilliant photo!!
EJWilkins: Thanks
Very effective and a good metaphor concept also.
EJWilkins: Heck, I'd never have imagined it meant more than one seed left on a plant.
Well spotted..and beautifully taken too Ellie.
EJWilkins: Thanks Ron.
Excellent Ellie, Super capture smile
EJWilkins: Thanks Linda
Cracking shot Ellie, that one little area of colour is superb.
EJWilkins: I thought the same, it's something I haven't tried for ages.
Pretty well perfect, EJ!
EJWilkins: Wow, praise indeed. Thanks Tom

a brilliant, very poetic photo! I love the minimalism and the beauty of the fine structures and the emptiness of the milkwhite background - maybe, we human beings are seeking, catching, gathering, holding vast- whatever may be possible- and sometimes totally alone.
EJWilkins: So kind of you Philine ... just imagine what this tiny seed will become, with a bit of soil, water and warmth

... and all it takes for another giant to grow ;o) Lovely shot Ellie.
EJWilkins: Spot on Mike, doesn't take much does it
beautiful - perfect composition and focus
EJWilkins: Pleased you think so Harry
A fine study, Ellie. The single seed makes it.
EJWilkins: It's what caught my eye Graeme

love this!
Who needs poetry when the picture says it all! Lovely capture!
Very nice - I like the DOF, the greyness of the "plant" and the strong colour of the seed. I get a strange mix of happyness and loneliness looking at this...
